random stuff making me smile 'n' Mustafa stuff...

This week we have our house back to its usual self...and krikey it does feel quiet.  My parents have jetted off to Australia for 3 weeks and my parents-in-law are having a week in Malaysia.  The beauty of us living out here is that our visitors have the opportunity to explore Asia's Pacific region a little :-)

Penang City, Malaysia

Temple of 1000 Buddhas, Penang

Hunter Valley, Australia

There is always time for a spot of shopping in Singapore and before my Mum and Mum-in-law left we took a little trip to Mustafa's in Little India.  Wowzers!  This place is packed to the rafters and sells anything 'n' everything.  It's not for the faint hearted though...it is sooooo big, busy and the choice of stuff is unbelievable...excellent ;-)

Mustafa Centre - open 24 hours

some Mustafa stuff

Here are some random purchases I made at the Mustafa Centre (not included in the pic though are; margarita glasses, ice bucket and those excellent aniseed flavour rainbow coloured mouth fresheners...

Punjab shirt and scarf, leave in conditioner, hair brush,
sparkly pink blusher, eye shadow and lip gloss...

Finally, as all the shopping centres take down their Christmas decs and replace them with Chinese New Year decs...all of the shops are offering discounts 'n' give aways :-)  I got some lovely, lovely shoes with 20% off and free pink satin Hong Bao - not sure what I'll use them for but they are pretty ;-)

I'm off now to decorate my bamboo plant with red ribbons and find a few fancy Chinese New Year  decs...

kisses 'n' smiles from me xx :-)

Expat Living, dining 'n' kids bedrooms

This morning I have been smiling, smiling, smiling 'n' actually giggling ;-)  a month ago I was contacted by the shop we had bought our dining table and furniture from...Origin Asia.  They asked if I would be their 'happy customer' and talk about my dining table experience for Expat Living magazine.  The magazine is a monthly read and is 'rather glossy' and a fave of the expats.  So, the January 2012 issue of the magazine is running a 'Dining Table stories' article.  Heck yes, of course I will be a part of that ;-)

I've got a taste for success now...watch this space for future 'stuff' ;-)

Finally, my latest 'idea'...getting an interior designer to sort out the boys bedrooms.  Actually, I see so many pics of kids bedrooms in 'said magazine' and think 'how do they get those rooms so nice'...I've decided I need some expert help.  Any interior design experience my readers have will be very much appreciated 'n' I'll be telling you how I get on with this project...

kisses 'n' smiles from me xx ;-)

1st January 2012

Happy New Year ! I truly hope 2012 is fine for everyone ;-)

Fab pic as Singapore celebrates the arrival of 2012
New Year's Eve started with sunshine, blue sky 'n' 30 degrees.  Picnic lunch at the East Coast Park beach, a little paddle in the sea, swimming in the pool, champagne aperitif, fab 'n' yummy dinner of Australian prawns to start followed by turkey 'n' veggies, a fair amount of wine and of course a few fireworks at midnight.  Fireworks always make me smile :-)

Actually, I don't really 'do' the whole 'New Year celebration' thing...interested to know that I am not alone in this 'feeling' a quick search on good old Google reveals this super sounding word; 'metathesiophobia' - or 'fear of change'...well, I don't think I need to be labeled with this 'phobia' as it's just a New Year thing for me and not 'change' in general.  Heck, I changed house 14 times 'n' changed the country I live in 5 times.  This year I shall not be moving house or changing continent :-)
I'm in Asia 'n' staying put :-)

Finally, New Year calls for a new NETS CashCard so it seems...just one of those things we only learn or think about when there is a problem!  This evening my Mr Man drove to the airport with the CashCard beeping and showing an error.  On close inspection the card did expire on 31-Dec-2011...so with no way of exiting or entering ERPs zones or carparks and with S$70 of stored value, we need get a new CashCard asap.
I'd better check with Google for some CashCard info...

kisses 'n' smiles from me xx ;-)
