airport, happy tears 'n' Christmas movies....

I've said before that I'm a 'proper girly-girl' 'n' I love a romantic comedy :-) one of my faves is 'love actually'...I love the beginning with the airport scene...hugs, tears, kisses 'n' smiles. Well this last week I've been there acting out those airport scene.

My parents arrived...I was anxiously looking out for them and managed a few tears even before I saw them :'-) well, needless to say, on actually seeing them I was very emotional...a 'proper' good happy cry makes me smile :-)
Next to arrive from Manchester were my parents-in-law and brother-in-law...my Mr Man being soooo busy at work couldn't make the airport collection so I was sending SMS updates and getting anxious 'n' emotional on his behalf.

So now we are all family together here in Singapore 'n' preparing 'n' getting excited for Christmas in this beautiful city...

We'll be having some good family times together...games, days out and some proper Christmas movies.  A few from our viewing list are 'polar express', 'the snowman' and 'jingle all the way'.

So, what will you be watching this Christmas hols?  No UK television for us so we are a little bit disappointed to be missing the Dr Who Christmas Special :-(

glitter 'n' Christmas in the tropics...

"It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas"...but really it does not feel like Christmas time.  I'm sat here blogging away and wearing shorts, the weather in Singapore today is around 32 degrees :-)  Yes, it is the usual December weather for Singaporeans.  A Brit's idea of December weather though is a time for a new hat 'n' scarf, some thick socks 'n' gloves!

I think childhood memories mould us into how we picture Christmas for life?  Here's some very different Christmas time weather....which one says "Christmas Time" to you?

The memories I have which says "Christmas Time" to me are of getting up on a frosty and often snowy morning at 4.00am (yes, very excited I was :-) to see if 'the man in the big red suit' had been ;-)I'd sit there opening goodies with the Christmas lights twinkling.  After getting all wrapped up in hat, scarf, gloves 'n' boots I would go, along with my parents, to visit my Aunt and Uncle.  I would time it just right to sit with my cousin and 'help' him open his goodies too...usually around 7am :-)  Ah...special 'n' perfect Christmas times spent with my family in Barnsley :-)

Barnsley Town Hall @ Christmas
What always makes me smile are Christmas decorations in all their twinkling glory :-)  They can be the "OTT brightest on the street" version or the "charming 'n' tasteful" version.  This year though, I've gone for a mixture of the two...  OK, a real tree in Singapore is available yes, but if I want to put it indoors at the beginning of December what would it look like by Christmas Eve?  So, I've gone for the tactastic, plastic 'n' very 'glitter covered' version with a blue and orange theme ;-)

Here too, there is a huge mix of 'OTT 'n' tasteful decorations -  here are a few pics from this amazing tropical island as we all prepare for the magic that is Christmas...

I'm off now to wrap some presents and pour myself a tiny Christmas Sherry ;-)

SPCA, Wicked 'n' Christmas ideas

This week I'm smiling because I started my training for reception work at the SPCA animal shelter.  I felt very much like the new girl on her first day at school but everyone is very friendly, helpful and, of course, we are all animal lovers so I'm going to be in good company.

http://www.spca.org.sg/
There is just one major problem which I'm going to come up against - this is to not allow myself to bring home random animals who might be available for adoption...Mr Man has put me under strict orders to keep our home to just one dog - but we'll see ;-)

Wicked the musical...who's seen it?  What do you think? Could my kids see it?  More importantly, will it make me smile? :-)

The show opens here on the 6th December and I'm thinking I might 'need' tickets. Bit pricey, but if it's as good as the reviews say then it will be an excellent show.  I do love a good Broadway musical :-)

If I understand correctly, it's kind of what happened in the land of Oz 'n' wizards before Dorothy arrived. It makes me think to a friend's wall post on Facebook recently...this very much made me giggle and smile ;-)

Holidays are coming, Holidays are coming...oh yes, the decorations are going up all around the city (all around the island actually).  The official light up day is 19th November.  Twinkling festive lights really do make me smile :-)

I love the whole coordinated Christmas tree and decoration thing, and asked my Mr Man for his opinion on my choice of 'orange, gold 'n' blue' for this year...a shrug of his shoulders - he never fails to make me smile :-) anyways, I'm taking that as an approval...

So, writing lists and I'll soon be on my way to Spotlight to buy blue 'n' orange ribbon 'n' tons more blue 'n' orange sparkling Christmas goodies.

kisses 'n' smiles from me xx :-)

Starbucks, Monet 'n' Yoga Dogs

A few pics which are making me smile right now... I hope they make your day a smiley one too ;-)

Christmas has arrived at Starbucks Singapore.  The Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha sounds far too yummy to ignore, for sure I shall have to sample this Starbucks Christmas Delight - maybe a cranberry muffin too ;-)  Oh heck, Holiday Season kilo increase starts early!

The past weekend I went along to the National Museum of Singapore with my three men.  I'd been wanting to visit for sometime and, of course, needed a good excuse to 'drag' my three men along...their interest in Geocaching was the perfect excuse (more about Geocaching and Singapore caches another time) ;-)

The visiting exhibition right now is 'Dreams & Reality' French 19th and 20th century art on loan from the Musee d'Orsay, Paris.  It was pretty amazing to see all of these "famous" paintings here in Singapore.  I had to wonder which moving company they used - not a single scratch or tear in any of the art work!

Finally, and I'm sure the only time you'll see 'Monet' and 'Van Gogh' joined by such a fab image...

I am still smiling at the Yoga Dogs ;-) can't wait for Father Christmas to bring me this calendar...

kisses 'n' smiles from me xx ;-)
